Documents Wallet
The Documents Wallet keeps your passport or residence permit to hand, protected by Face ID, without putting it on anybody's server.
Where it lives
Profile → Travel documents.
Adding a document
Point the camera at the machine-readable zone — the two lines of characters at the bottom of a passport's photo page. Kestreli reads them and checks them against the international standard, so a misread is caught rather than saved.
If your passport has a chip, you can optionally hold it to the top of your phone to verify it over NFC. That reads the data straight from the chip, including the photo, and confirms it matches the printed page.
How your documents are protected
- They are stored only on that device, in the iOS Keychain. They are never uploaded to Kestreli, never synced between devices, and are not in your iCloud backup.
- Opening the wallet requires Face ID (or your passcode). Revealing a full document number asks again.
- Leaving the wallet locks it again.
- Deleting the app, or deleting your Kestreli account, removes them.
Because they only exist on one device, Kestreli cannot recover them for you if you lose it.
Expiry warnings
Kestreli compares your passport's expiry date against the end of a trip, plus the validity many destinations require beyond your return date. If that looks tight, Radar says so. Treat it as a prompt to check, not as immigration advice — the requirements are set by the country you're travelling to.
